The Sanderlanche

Right when you want to put down your book (or kindle), the Sanderlanche hits

The “Sanderlanche” has unironically been one of my favorite words from the past year. I was an avid reader growing up, until suddenly I found myself doing anything but reading. Then one day, on the topic of free time, my longtime friend Simon Lamarche told me he had started reading books instead of playing video games or doomscrolling.

Simon and I grew up noses-buried in thrilling fantasy series like Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Harry Potter. So when he told me to read my first book in the Cosmere, I knew I had to. Brandon Sanderson has an incredible ability to build suspense - and when the ball drops, it drops heavy.

Every time I pick up one of his books, I get completely absorbed in the worldbuilding. Then, just when I think I understand what’s happening, the twists and turns catch me off guard. If you’re looking for a new book, start with Mistborn: The Final Empire.

Be warned though, the Sanderlanche is real. Once you start, it’s hard to stop (I'm on my fifth book of the Cosmere).
