Thoughts on Gladiator II

I had the opportunity to watch Gladiator II on release with my good friend, Nico Romero. I love traveling back in history through cinematic experiences, and Gladiator II was no disappointment on that front. From the opening siege, the Roman Colosseum, and the overall depiction of Rome, the movie was a time capsule. While the scenery and set were great, the plot felt a bit lackluster at times. Maybe, Ridley Scott was emphasizing the parallels between Gladiator one and two, but the plot felt repetitive. Nevertheless, it was a great movie with a great performance from Denzel Washington and Pedro Pascal.
