The Death of Flash Games

A tribute to the pixelated worlds that defined a generation

Once upon a time, there was a magical era when boredom could be defeated with the dynamic duo of any browser and Adobe Flash. For an entire generation, Flash games were an escape from procrastination, boredom, and sometimes even class. From waddling around in Club Penguin, solving mysteries on the islands of Poptropica, to pretending to do math on Cool Math Games, these pixelated worlds shaped my childhood.

When Flash was discontinued in 2020, it felt like a piece of my childhood disappeared with it. Flash wasn’t just a plugin — it was a gateway to penguin parties, island adventures, and gaming marathons disguised as math lessons. Not to sound like a boomer, but those were the good ol’ days before 60 GB updates became the norm for modern games.

RIP Flash Games
1996–2020
Forever in our browsers, never in our RAM.
